Rush impressed with Torres

Torres has scored six goals in ten games for the Reds so far this season and his performances have impressed Ian Rush who says he sees a lot of himself in the Spaniard's game.

"I'm hoping he will be the new Ian Rush and I'm sure every Liverpool supporter is hoping the same," said the Reds legend.

"What I have seen so far is that he can cope with the physical side and the pace of the English game which for a foreign player, shows what a bright future he will have here. I think he can only get better.

"We all know how good Liverpool's defence has been over the last few years but we have just lacked that 20-25 goal man to make us realistic title challengers.

"But you can see the fans getting excited as they now think that we have found that man, and so do I.

"I am reminded a lot of myself when I see Fernando play, with his pace, movement and awareness around him.

"The team is starting to look like it should have the in form Torres starting every game and with the other strikers fighting for the right to partner him.

"Maybe with him in the team this could be our year."
