Rush laments Carragher loss

The legendary striker feels that the unfortunate loss of the Bootle-born 25-year-old may finally see the England international given the credit he so richly deserves by the Anfield faithful.

Rush said: "I've never hidden my admiration for Carra and his importance to the Liverpool team. I've felt he's been under-appreciated, sometimes even by his supporters, for far too long.

"Often it's only when he's not playing you realise how good he is, but he'll bounce back. But Liverpool have effectively lost three players because of Carra's injury - a left-back, a right-back and a centre-half."

Liverpool's impressive win at Blackburn was also marred by an injury to Milan Baros. The Czech striker is expected to be sidelined until January with a broken ankle and Rush believes that both Baros and Carragher must help eachother through what will undoubtedly be the darkest spells of their careers.

Rush added: "It's tough to get into shape on your own. All you can do is wait for the problem to heal and only then can you start to think about your fitness, but at least both Jamie and Milan will be able to inspire each other back."
