Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes the Reds should play Emile Heskey, Michael Owen and Nicolas Anelka from the start of every home Premiership game until the end of the season to try and score more goals.

The former Liverpool striker also believes that this would help Nicolas Anelka find his feet.

"By playing all three from the start I feel that Liverpool could win a match in the opening 45 minutes by getting two or three goals behind them," said Rush.

"It would also give Anelka more of an opportunity to prove his class because I feel there is a lot more to come from the French international.

"There are times when you can see he is still a bit rusty but I felt he was excellent against Everton and he took his goal really well.

"He needs games and I hope he gets them because Anelka is a world class talent who can make a difference to Liverpool's season."
