A run of just one point from fifteen has led many critics to call time on the Anfield title challenge, but Hyppia is not ready to give up that easily.

Hyypia said: "I believe we can win the title. We have every aspect in our game to win it. I know Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are very good teams but we're not a bad team either.

"It is mentally very hard to go through this bad period but I don't think we've played that bad. We've still created chances but they just don't seem to go in, and at the other end we've been conceding goals a bit too easily.

"Everybody at this club wants to turn it around as soon as possible and it's good we get the chance quickly with a game at Sunderland.

"The team spirit here is very good and in training. At the moment results aren't there and we are not happy about it. It's a challenge and we have to show everybody we are mentally strong and can get through this.

"When I first came to Liverpool I didn't have big expectations how my career here would go and nobody knew me. I'm happy with the way it's gone and the team has grown a lot in the past three years
