Sander to look to Merseyside derby experience

Speaking on his website, Sander says he hopes he can call on the experiences he's picked-up from high profile games such as the Merseyside Derby.

Talking about the forthcoming game against Athletic Bilbao, Sander said: "In Holland I played for Vitesse Arnhem against NEC Nijmegen and in England for Liverpool against Everton.

"On both occasions I was playing for the bigger team. But this will be the first time I have played in a derby as an underdog.

"The players have tried to tell me how important this game is. I think I have an idea, having experienced the Liverpool-Everton matches, which are huge and so full of passion. That experience should be useful."
