Scouts from English clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Leeds, Tottenham, Newcastle, Arsenal, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Ipswich, West Ham, Charlton and European clubs such as Parma, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid travelled to Boulogne last week to see Djibril Cisse in action for the French Under 21s's in a game in which he scored two goals.

Tottenham's director of football David Pleat confirmed that he was there to watch the striker. Speaking last week from Boulogne said: "We're all here! Cisse is a top, top player. He's got everything.

"Really the best time to pick up someone like him is when he is in the Under-18's. Then it is a case of backing your judgment and paying £3 or £4million. Who knows what the price is now? Whatever they are asking, he is on his way."

The highly talented striker is a target of the Reds but he would command a transfer fee in excess of £30million. Anelka on the other hand would cost much less and the Reds are hopeful that he will find his form to secure a lucrative contract at Anfield.
