Season in the balance

"We are still enjoying a good season but the difference between success and failure is a thin line and we are now at this point," said the Liverpool boss.

"We can keep going and finish second or third or we can lose some games and look back and think the season was not as good as we had hoped.

"People were talking about us being contenders when we went to Chelsea in February. We lost that game so then we started talking about finishing second. That situation is much better than last season, but it can change if you win one or two games, or if you lose one or two.

"We are trying to finish in the top four - second if it's possible. A good season for many teams is to finish mid-table. A fantastic season for some is to finish in the top six. But at Liverpool everyone expects us to finish in the top four. We must finish in the top four.

"We are here and we have been close to first and second, but we know the difference between a very good season or a bad season is finishing in the top four and winning the FA Cup."
