Liverpool, along with fellow English side Manchester United, plus Real Madrid, are all looking to sign the talented defender. Senderos has yet to make a decision on his future.

But now current club Servette are looking to hold onto the player, with Senderos and his father eager for all the speculation to stop so that he can get on with his playing career without distraction.

"He is under contract until 2004," he told planetfootball. "Even if we know that a lot of clubs are following him, we very much want to keep him and he is only thinking of us for now.

"His father and the club don't want to say anything more now becaue a lot has been said and written about his possibly departure but we want to calm everything down as it is better for the young man.

"His dad has received a lot of calls from clubs but he wants that to stop for now, as Phillipe wants to. concentrate on playing games and staying with Servette.

"The speculation does not seem to be bothereing him even though he is only 17. He's very mature, and he is a major part of our plans for the future.

"I know he is in contact with Gerard Houllier and also Bayern Munich but he is not planning to do anything just yet."
