Shearer still dreaming

The former England forward missed a late penalty as Sir Bobby Robson's men dropped two vital points at home to Wolves at the weekend but he insists that all hope is not yet lost ahead of daunting trips to Southampton and Liverpool.

Shearer said: "We knew before the Wolves game that we could not lose any of the three matches we had left. We blew a big chance to take three points against Wolves.

"But we can't feel sorry for ourselves and we won't and we will give it a damn big try on Wednesday.

"It doesn't help that the two games are at grounds where we have not done too well recently. We have not won at Anfield since I've been here and we've not won at Southampton since I've been here.

"If you were a betting man, with two games to go, you would not put any money on us. But, as I said, where there is a chance, we will not give up.

"It will be difficult for us. We have it all to do, without doubt."
