Shelvey has a tendon problem in his knee and is now facing three months on the sidelines.
"I'm a bit down at the moment but I'm just hoping now I can come back stronger," said the midfielder.
"I am now going to take a 12 week rehabilitation and hopefully I'll be back soon."
