But Sissoko added that he was proud to play for Mali, especially given the strength of the current side, and said that he was hopeful of 2010 World Cup qualification.
"Anyone would love to play for the French team. But I made my choice and it is impossible to go back. I am proud to play for Mali," Sissoko said.
"With Diarra, Kanoute, Seydou Keita, Traore, Adama Coulibaly, Kante and Eric Chelle we have a big team to, capable of qualifying for 2010 World Cup," he said.
