Liverpool did not qualify for the forthcoming Champions League campaign through the league but as holders were entered into the qualifying rounds at UEFA's discretion. Liverpool's entry means Czech side Slavia Prague have lost their seeding.

If Liverpool reach the third qualifying round they will become the top seeds and Prague will lose their seeding to the annoyance of Slavia's general manager Vladimir Leska.

"The reply sent to us from Uefa management was shocking for us," said Leska.

"If Uefa solves an irregular situation about the defending champions it should not harm the other clubs.

"We still believe that an acceptable solution will be found, a solution that will avoid harming our club as regards seeding in the third preliminary round."
