The 29-year-old Czech international became a father once again this week when wife Pavlina gave birth to baby boy Giri Smicer and the Reds midfielder is hoping to crown a joyous time in his life with the winning goal in one of the biggest games of the season.

Smicer said: "I was trying so hard to score against Spurs because I wanted to celebrate the birth of my child. Now I'm looking forward to Everton instead. I suppose if I score in the derby it will be better because it's a far more important game to the fans. The one who scores the winner in a derby is remembered for the rest of his career so it's a dream to do that."

"My wife and child are doing very well. My only worry is my children are growing up with a scouse accent!"
