"There is no way I would stop giving my all because I think I may be leaving. I want to play as much as possible," he said.

The Czech star has been on the books at Anfield for six years, after he was brought in by manager Gerard Houllier, but has failed to impress consistently.

But the 30 year old said he would still put every effort into claiming fourth spot and winning the Champions League.

Smicer said: "I've always tried my best for Liverpool and will continue to do so now. These are very exciting times for the club. We have a big challenge to beat Everton to the Champions League spot and the prospect of playing in more Champions League games this season is a big motivation for us all."
