"Torres and Keane are two very good players," said Smith.
"Liverpool will obviously benefit from that. It'll maybe mean a change of emphasis in the way they play, but they have great players overall and looking at them now, you'd say they have an opportunity next season to challenge for the title.
"I think they can push forward and improve on their top four finishes in recent seasons and Torres and Keane could give them that little edge."
