Smith thanks Liverpool fans

Although there is a fierce rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United, Smith was applauded by both sets of fans as he left the field on a stretcher on Saturday.

"He [Smith] was a bit delirious as he was coming off but he was able to recognise that a lot of Liverpool fans were giving him a good round of applause. He just wants to say thank you to everybody for that." said Smith's agent Alex Black.
