Spain beaten

Spain took the lead just before the half hour mark when David Villa scored a penalty. Franck Ribery equalised just before half time. The game seemed to heading into extra time as there was little to seperate the two sides, when Patrick Viera and Zinedine Zidane scored two late goals to send France through to a quarter final date with Brazil.

Xabi Alonso played the entire game for Spain while Luis Garcia was a second half subsitute.
