But Rufete was happy with the teams' performance aswell as his own.
He said: "To have scored at Anfield is something I will never forget. The team has shown that we could play very seriously. We have proved that Valencia did not come here to just watch."
"We wanted to leave a mark and to come here to this stadium and gain qualification to the next round," he said.
"We were in control throughout the match. We knew we would get pressure at Anfield but my players knew how to react."
