Spaniard to sit out Saturday's clash

New rules mean any red card offence will be punished automatically with suspension for the next match, instead of waiting several weeks as previously.

The suspension of the Spaniard means the team will require a slight reshuffle, possibly with Jamie Carragher moving to the vacant right back position, Djimi Traore coming in at centre back and John Arne Riise taking up the left back role.
