The reserve team midfielder has appeared for the first team in the Champions League and has been on the subsitutes bench for league games. His next target is to make a league appearance.

"I've only played in the Champions League which is one of the biggest football competitions in the world, and I want to play in the Premier League for Liverpool," said Spearing.

"That would be special for me. I've just got to keep working hard in training and hopefully the boss will keep me involved.

"If I can keep working hard then hopefully my chance will come.

"I was on the bench against Manchester City at Anfield and even though I didn't get on the field it was a great experience for me.

"The cameo role against Madrid I really enjoyed but straight away I got back down to reality and got ready for the next reserve team game.

"The manager said he was very happy with me after the Madrid game and he just told me to keep working hard and more chances will come my way.

"I went out there and just thought I've got to show the boss and the staff what I'm capable of and I can do a job if he needs me.

"Myself and Stephen Darby have been training regularly with the reserve team squad and it's great for your confidence that the manager has the faith to include you with the senior players.

"Stevie G and Jamie Carragher have been fantastic for me and they have given me a lot of advice.

"Stevie got me in a headlock after the Madrid game and told me he was made up for me and that I had done well.

"What better advice could you have as a player than talking to the best midfielder in the world and probably the best defender in the world in my opinion?"
