Stadium work to begin in Autumn

The Reds have received planning permission for their new 60,000 seater stadium and co-chairman Tom Hicks says work will begin in September so the stadium is ready for the start of the 2011/12 season.

"Site work starts in September and construction in late October or early November," said the unpopular Texan.

"Completion will still be in time for August 2011."

Liverpool fans will take this news with a pinch of salt since Hicks claimed upon taking over at Liverpool there would be a spade in the ground within 60 days. 440 days after the takeover it was the Spirit of Shankly Liverpool Supporters Union who were the first to put a spade in the ground in Stanley Park.
