Statistically speaking...

From Optasoccer, 10th March:

Liverpool’s El-Hadji Diouf scored his first Premiership goal in almost 19 hours when he netted against Bolton on Saturday. The Senegal striker headed home Michael Owen’s chip and repaid the compliment when he crossed for Owen to score his fourth goal in four games midway through the second half.

Opta Index have decided to study Diouf’s Premiership form since his arrival on Merseyside last summer and evaluate his worth to the team.

His goal against the Trotters was his first in the league since he netted on his home debut against Southampton back in August.

While the former Lens man may not be prolific in front of goal, he has set up two goals for his team-mates.

Danny Murphy is the only Reds player to have attempted more dribbles and runs than Diouf’s 127 and the Senegalese international has won the most free kicks for the team.

After a slow start to his Anfield career, Diouf has an opportunity to collect more silverware in the UEFA Cup and secure a treasured spot in next season’s Champions League.
