The 16 year old central defender has been watched by Liverpool scouts for some time and the visit to Melwood will give the management a chance to see him in closer detail.

If Tunnicliffe impresses he will be offered a deal on his 17th birthday similar to that given to Jack Hobbs when the joined the Reds from Lincoln in the summer.

"If the boy does well over at Liverpool then it is an opportunity with the European champions that doesn't come along too often in life and it's a chance for him," said Stockport boss Chris Turner.

"He is an exceptional talent and a boy that would be in our first team by the end of the season I am sure.

"There isn't going to be too many times when the European champions are going to be coming for one of your players and it is an opportunity that we couldn't really turn down."
