The Liverpool's striker's knee injury prevented an approach in August, but the Potters are set to renew their interest in the New Year.

"We were definitely interested in bringing him to the club during the August transfer window but injury prevented that," said a club spokesman.

"But it's far too much in the distance for us to be thinking about that now."
