Liverpool striker Emile Heskey is a major doubt for this weekend's game against Sunderland after sustaining a hamstring injury against Bayer Leverkusen.
"Emile had to come off because of a hamstring strain and I didn't want to take any risks," said the boss.
"I want to take this opportunity to pay a special homage to Emile. He had to go to Antigua last week for his grandmother's funeral. He came back on Sunday and then joined up with us for the trip to Germany."
