Super Dan is the man

Prior to Saturday's game against Man Ure Murphy had endured a poor run of form and had been dropped from first team duty but Houllier is urging the player to use Saturday's game to push himself on and improve his game and his consistency.

"Danny is definitely part of this club's future. He is a very technically-gifted player but what he must not do is settle for the level he has reached," said the Reds boss.

"He has to push on now and must not allow himself to be in a comfort zone, physically and mentally.

"I gave him a chance at the weekend and he took it well. He is someone I trust in the big games. Danny knows what I like about him but at the same time I have high standards.

"He played an important part in what was a team performance at Old Trafford. It is a happy ground for him and he did well."
