Sven backs Crouch

With Wayne Rooney suspended for the game after picking up his second booking of the campaign against Northern Ireland Erikkson has hinted that he will turn to Crouch for his first competitive start for England.

Eriksson said: "I know what we are going to do but I can't say that, although it might be a front two. Peter Crouch is doing very well and he is a player who interests me."

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy may also be recalled to the squad after an impressive start to the season for Charlton.
