Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman was dropped from Sven Goran Eriksson's World Cup plans by answer phone.
Eriksson wanted to speak to Macca personally but couldn't get hold of him so left a message on his voice-mail.
"I phoned players who maybe expected to be in my squad but were not," said Sven.
"McManaman was one of those I called but he was out practising with his team so I left a message."
