Switzerland pulled off the shock of the tournament so far by beating favourites Spain 1-0 in Group H. Spain were the better team throughout and created far more chances but were beaten by a sucker punch goal on the break.
Fernando Torres entered the fray as a 66th minute subsitute with the score already 1-0 while Pepe Reina was an unused sub.
