Target to hold talks tomorrow

Rangers Barry Ferguson will hold talks with chairman David Murray tomorrow regarding his future.

Newspaper speculation over the last few days suggests that Ferguson has had a change of heart and no longer wants to quit the Scottish outfit for England.

However, Rangers will sell if they receive a high offer for their captain. Liverpool are prepared to pay around £10million but Murray will probably want around £12million+.

"We know what Barry is worth but never at any time have Rangers said he won't be here for the start of the new season and we have not been inviting bids," said Murray.

"I think it was obvious to everyone just how proud Barry was to be captain of Rangers on Saturday. You could see how much it meant to him.

"We have some things to discuss but while no one wants Barry to leave we have to consider serious offers.

Ferguson himself is keeping his options closely to his chest.

Only speaking to confirm tomorrow's talks, he said: "I will meet the chairman on Tuesday with my agent John Viola for talks.

"It's not a tough decision for me because I know what I want but I'm not giving any clues.

"This is not just about me. I need to find out what the chairman thinks. If a crazy bid comes in then he may want to accept it."

Gerard Houllier will not pay over the odds and the sounding out of Cheyrou could be an indication that the boss already expects problems with Ferguson.
