Taylor expects a good game

“I think Liverpool are serious about winning the competition," the former England manager told the club's official website.

“For the first time in a number of years there’s a lot of interest in this competition as it reaches it’s final stages.

“It has all the makings of a very good game, a full house at Villa Park, with Liverpool and Villa wanting to go all the way.

"If someone said to you 'when do you want to play a team?' then it's not a bad time if they have lost four or five games on the trot.

"But you are talking here about Liverpool as a club with a big squad of players, who have operated at the top end of things and won trophies.

"That wounded tiger mentality does spring to mind in the sense that they could now be at their most dangerous, in looking to put recent results behind them.

“We won’t in any shape or form be thinking, because they haven’t had such a good run recently, that it’s going to be any easier. It won’t be. But our job, however Liverpool play, is to play better than them and beat them.”
