Team News: Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Fortunately, though, Liverpool could 'kill two birds with one stone' as they say. Strangely enough, after Everton's win over Arsenal last week it is Spurs that could, in effect, help Arsenal return to the top of the table.

Liverpool go into the game with a number of injury worries. Stephane Henchoz remains sidelined after recent surgery, with Djimi Traore set to continue in central defence in his place.

Emile Heskey is regarded as a 'major doubt'. Steven Gerrard has been giving a clean bill of health after recovering from a hip injury, and Bruno Cheyrou is back in contention after his thigh strain. Markus Babbel and Vladimir Smicer should both get a place on the bench.

For Spurs Les Ferdinand is recalled to the squad after recovering from a back injury, but with Robbie Keane and Teddy Sheringham in fine form he'll likely watch on from the bench.

Youngster Anthony Gardner is fit and available for selection but defenders Mauricio Taricco and Ben Thatcher are ruled out. Former Liverpool defender Christian Ziege out with a calf injury.
