"I am concerned about our current run, but this is a time when we will find out who our true supporters are," he said. "There are two new trends in football, the phone-ins and the internet.
"Rival fans can phone up radio stations and pretend to be a Liverpool fan and say this and that is wrong with the club.
"It can be hurtful to hear what people say about us but we have to have the mental strength and togetherness to ride this out."
