Thai deal hits problems

Opposition to the investment, which was to be funded by a national lottery, has grown, forcing the Thai PM to rethink his finances and may possibly now invest privately.

"The government wanted to send a signal that it is willing to reconsider the financing if it met with resistance," said a spokesman.
"The government had anticipated such resistance. The plan to buy a stake in Liverpool is still on track."

"The deal is still on, but dscussions are expected to become more difficult."
