Thai deal is dead

The Thai PM met with strong opposition when it came to light that the £65m deal would be funded by a national lottery, and has been unable to secure alternative funding.

"The government cannot pursue the deal because it will not spend taxpayers' money," he admitted. "Problems also arose with issuing a lottery to raise funds that people considered to be gambling."
