The life of Riley

The fifth minute penalty and subsequent sending off of Sami Hyypia appeared harsh, and the penalty awarded against Igor Biscan in the second half ended Liverpool's hopes of getting anything back from the game.

Was Mike Riley justified in these two decisions, or was he influenced by the occasion?

If we look back over the season we will see that Mr Riley has refereed four games at Old Trafford. In these four games he has awarded six penalties to United.

In the one game he refereed at Old Trafford last season he also sent off Tottenham's Mauricio Taricco and awarded the home side a penalty.

There may be nothing untoward in this, but surely the FA need to look back over these games before allowing Riley to take charge of another game at Old Trafford.
