Benitez said: "The next target is to make this team competitive. The reality is that we have to improve a lot of things.
"I am happy with the first 12 months. Some people ask me after getting the most important title in Europe what keeps me here? I think we have done a good job but I still think there is much to improve.
"When I arrived at Anfield I had won the league twice in Spain and the UEFA Cup, now I have one more title but my idea is to win more titles.
"Just because I've added one more trophy to my list, it doesn't mean my job is done. It's only just started.
"We have plenty of new players in the squad and they are hungry for success. That makes for good competition for places and it has helped us find our form during the pre-season."
