Liverpool's Phil Thompson is hoping that the fans will raise the roof off Anfield on Tuesday night when the club play their make or break Champions League game against AS Roma.

The Reds must win by two goals to guarantee themselves a place in the last eight of the competition and the 12th man at Anfield is needed for this televised clash.

"It is going to be a big night and it's one we are all looking forward to," said Thompson.

"The players are up for it, the staff are up for it and I know the fans will be up for it.

"It's going to be a flag night and I think the fans can will us home.

"These players have shown before that when they want something they can go and get it and I think tomorrow night the fans can do the same. Their backing will help us get the result we all want.

"For 90 minutes we need them to be behind the players and to give us their total support."
