Valencia won 2-0 in Spain and are currently top of La Liga, but Liverpool's assistant manager believes the Reds can win at Anfield.

"It wasn't nice in Valencia. It was a game which knocked us back," he said.

"They played to the top of their ability on the day and we didn't reach anywhere near ours. They possessed some fantastic players but this time we are at home.

"It will be a different Liverpool. We have learnt from our escapades over there and all the players will be ready for Wednesday night.

"These are the games for the players to respond to. We have had these kind of matches before recently against Roma and Barcelona and it speaks volumes for the progress of the football club. As a player you want to test yourselves against the best."
