Liverpool assistant boss Phil Thompson has denied that Jamie Redknapp is on the verge of joining Spurs so expect the club skipper to be revealed at a press conference alongside Glenn Hoddle within the next 24 hours!

The last time Thommo denied a player was leaving Anfield, Robbie Fowler was sold within 24 hours to Leeds.

Seriously though, Liverpool insist they are still discussing a new deal and that nothing has been agreed with Spurs.

"I can deny we have agreed anything with Spurs. Contract talks with Jamie are still on-going," said Thompson.
