Thompson full of praise for Mellor

Thompson is delighted that the player has managed to make such an impact during a difficult period for the club.

He said: "We are extremely pleased with Neil. Throughout this difficult time it has been hard for a young player to come in. He has given us another option.

"Everyone knows he has scored goals at youth team level and reserve team level. Now we hope he can do it in the first team.

"He has come through the Academy, which is pleasing and it gives everyone in the side a boost.
