Liverpool's assistant manager Phil Thompson says that the club are already working behind the scenes trying to recuit new blood for next season's title challenge.

Changes will be made in the summer and moves for the likes of Brett Emerton and Barry Ferguson look likely.

"The fans know with Gerard Houllier at the helm we are working behind the scenes to make the team even stronger and make us feared in this country and across Europe," said Thommo.

"We are looking at players to bring in. We are not sitting back and thinking we don't need more talent.

"We are on the lookout and there will be changes, we can guarantee that. It's not like it was three years ago though. We do not need a dramatic turnaround but we will be consolidating."

This evening's Insider update will provide details of some interesting transfer developments.
