Thompson unsurprised by Dudek display

The Polish keeper suffered a crisis of confidence when a series of high profile mistakes added to the woe of a Liverpool side struggling for form. An injury to Chris Kirkland, though, has allowed Dudek to show his quality once again.

Phil Thompson feels that Dudek is ready to save a Liverpool career that had looked likely to end bitterly.

Thompson said: "We have seen him in training and the confidence is oozing back. Some of the goalkeeping is out of this world.

"A lot of people may have been surprised by Jerzy's performance last night, but not us at the club. He has pulled off some fantastic saves."
