Thompson: We lost our concentration

Liverpool fans across the globe watched in amazement as a team with no ideas once again failed to string any real decent chances together. You'd have been better off staying at home watching 'UK Gold 2' because a re-run of 'Tenko' would certainly have been more entertaining.

Speaking after the game, acting boss Phil Thompson said: "There was a lack of concentration. They got behind us which was very disappointing. The lads were trying but weren't trying in the right way.

"The lads were running all over the place instead of being clever in their closing down."

Turning his attentions to Saturday, the acting manager said: "There's another great game coming up against Arsenal on Sunday. We've got to pick ourselves up again. We've got enough firepower in the team."

There may be plenty of strikers at Anfield but one thing there isn't, is any real creative midfielders that can supply those all so important killer balls. Liverpool need width and they also need Michael Owen back in the side and soon.

Players are allowed to have their off days but right now too many of them are perfoming below par and for too long. We continue to rely on Michael Owen and we continue to defend the likes of Smicer and Murphy - find your form men before it's too late.
