Thompson's future in doubt

Although Thompson has been appointed temporary boss he is not expected to be in the running for the position on a permanent basis.

Rick Parry has said that whoever does succeed Gerard Houllier on a full time basis will have free reign to bring in their own back room staff and Thompson is expected to depart.
