The striker is expected to be named amongst the subsitutes for tonight's Champions League game against Fiorentina after being out with a groin injury since November 4th.
"He took part in a full training session yesterday and he will train again today in a light session. If everything is okay, he will be on the bench [against Fiorentina]," said Rafael Benitez.
"It will be better to have him on the bench, let him have a proper warm-up and afterwards give him some minutes."
