"I'm a Chelsea player and I’m really, really happy and so proud to be here," he said. "It’s been three or four really hard days for me, especially leaving Liverpool.
"But I can say I am a Chelsea player now and I am sure I am doing a bigger step forward in my career to join a club like Chelsea. I want to be at the level that I am supposed to stay."
His comments are reminiscent of Michael Owen's 'signed for a big club' jibe he made when he moved to Real Madrid, which Liverpool fans won't ever let him forget.
