Torres made a goalscoring return against Preston on Saturday and now hopes to fire Liverpool to trophy success after having his season disrupted by injury.

"Always it is frustrating when you are not playing and missing games," said the striker.

"You want to be out there helping your team-mates and working hard, but the injury is in the past now.

"I have forgotten about it and I am only looking forward.

"I hope all my hamstring injuries are over and that I can keep playing and scoring for Liverpool. The team has shown they can win without Stevie and without me. That is very important. It shows that we play as a team.

"They have done very well and deserve a lot of credit but I want to try and play my part too.

"I came to Liverpool to win trophies and I hope this can be the year we can do that.

"I want 2009 to be better than 2008 in terms of Liverpool.

"We have the Cup and also the Premier League and the Champions League to try and do well in.

"We know the Premier League is very important for the fans. We are at the top of the table and we will try and stay there."
