Sunday's penalty shoot-out success saw Spain go past the quarter final stage in a major tournament for the first time since 1984 and was also their first ever shoot-out victory. The win has left the entire country on a high.

"We are euphoric. It was a very difficult game because of our opponents, for the curse of the quarter-finals and we knew that it was going to be very important for the morale of the team," said Torres.

"This moment is not only great for our group of 23 players, nor just for our generation - this moment is legendary for several generations.

"All of Spain have to feel part of this moment, not only us. We are very fortunate to be here now."
