Torres scored his 32nd goal of an amazing debut season on Sunday. Fans, the manager and the players have been singing his praises throughout the campaign and two of his team mates have again praised the striker after his winner against Man City.

"Torres is improving all of the time. He's getting better and better and he's very important to the team," said Lucas.

"With Torres on the pitch you know you've always got a good chance to score a goal and that's important for the confidence of the team, to know that he is there. He doesn't miss many chances and he's had a great season. Hopefully we will score as many or more goals next season and we can get closer to the title."

"You have to remember that this is Fernando's first season in England so he will improve. As a player you are always learning and always looking to get better and that will be Fernando's goal for next season," said Pepe Reina.

"English football is different but he has adapted really well, better than anyone could have expected, and if you look at the number of goals he has scored you can see he has done a good job."
